Well well well, the season is over we are all recouping from many layouts, bids, and calihans. What a fantastic season, with much to work on comes much responsibility. When the new year and the new season rolls around we will be hitting up this tournament in Cincinnati, OH. One of our favorite tourneys to hit mainly just because of the weather and hot tub is Arctic Vogue. Starting with the first game of the day, I’ll have 3 more to post as time goes on. Don’t believe we’ve published this video yet, but we thought it was time to push out a new video from this year! Especially since all our new players haven’t got to see themselves on video much yet. So be sure to tell your parents, and siblings. Say, “Hey look at me on the internet!” One of the first experiences we had this year was with this little get together. We invited a few teams down to play with us on campus. We split up our club into two teams and got rocked, haha. It was the beginning of the year anyway, give us a break. Our first interest meeting as an official club, aw. It’s always nice to look back just one year ago and see where we are headed this year. The club is growing and at a great rate too. We’re consistently getting more people interested in play ultimate, and the quality of these people is incredible. Ultimate is a very addicting sport, it’s awesome! Once again no new video yet! I know it’s sooo hard to be patient, but I think there is a quick bug to squash in the podcast and also I’m still getting all the back log up and where it used to be. Welcome back again to another sweet episode of our sweet podcast on our sweet website. Pretty sweet eh? Many thanks goes out to a Jordan Davis who filmed this practice for us. Why did we want to film a practice? I dunno, it’s just nice to have memories on video. By the way I chose this picture because of good old Timmy. He’s in town this weekend so be sure to come play pickup with us. Pickup is going to be this Sunday sometime. Be sure to watch your email! Anyway, there was some weird glitch in this video. AUU Snow Day Practice

We just got back from a great day at the Indiana State Ultimate tourney. As a team we definitely clicked and played well today. We went 3-2 with some really good games, of course you’ll see footage at some time in the near future. Get that to me JOEL! Although Ruckus and Ball State A team took it to us hard, we had three really good games with Huntington, Ball State B, and Taylor. We’re quickly making friends with these guys which is what it’s all about. I even believe we are having an exhibition game with Ball State’s B team after fall break. It’ll be great to get our new guys out with their new guys. Learning, and learning, and learning! Anyway, check out this video which was from last winter when we had that massive snow storm. AU got out of school for one day and we played in the snow. It was about a month away from Arctic Vogue so we figured it would be good practice just incase it was like this come time for that tourney. Enjoy.

Valpo Tourney ‘08

Happy WEDNESDAY to all of you Ultimate players and fans out there. We’re going back to just about a year ago in our club’s life at the Valpo Tourney. This was an awesome experience thanks to Rick’s great family. We stayed in their cabin, had great home cooked food, the whole nine yards. Although this may look like summer in the video, it was just an unusually warm day in October. Really weird eh? None the less we put a lot of sweat into this tourney and were able to bring two teams. A first for us. I believe the video is just of our A team. I was on the U team filming since we weren’t playing at the time. The Story of Cait’s Layout.

The disc swung wide to the sideline. Nate planted his feet and rotated his hips to clamp down hard with a pancake catch as he turned to see Caitlyn striking down the field for a continuation pass. He thrust forward and released the disc with a quick forehand wrist-whip that sent the disc spinning under the defender’s reach. The pass rode an air current to chest level right before Caitlyn’s lengthened stride. With a tremendous heave she cocked her arms and threw herself into the wind. Cait hung perilously, suspended upon take-off. Then, her knees fell, buckling forcefully on the trim green ground of the endzone, her upper body fighting gravity to stay in forward motion. In a single strained effort against the will of the mind to protect the body, she powered her arms to stretch beyond the break of her fall and SNAG! The disc stalled in mid-flight, with Caitlyn’s hands clenched tight around the rim as she crashed to the field.

It may have only been one point scored in a game to 11, but for that moment, that minute of a game well in hand, Caitlyn was a heroin. We lifted her up on our shoulders and chanted, “Cait, Cait, Cait, CAIT, CAIT!” She was a little embarrassed, but none of us cared. We were ecstatic! Caitlyn plays on AU’s club ultimate frisbee team “Conspiracy”. For three years, she has been teased about never laying out for a disc, despite the gratuity of the leading pass. So, earlier this season, she made a pact with two friends, Bree and Lacey, to catch one layout before the end of the season. And on Sunday, in our game against Huntington University, she broke through her wall and made the layout of her life.

Cait’s layout, it seems, is symbolic of the excitement and tenacity thriving in our club this year. With a huge crop of freshman athletes and first-year players, we are quickly developing into a deep, trustworthy team on the field, and a warm, supportive family off the field.

I hope Caitlyn’s spirit will be the inspiration of an ultimate revolution. The competitive potential of our club is great! We have former athletes—center forwards, wide receivers, middle blockers, line backers, and former pitchers. We have scholars—physics/computer science/math triple majors, future social workers, aspiring entrepreneurs and media production hopefuls, elementary educators and musicians. We have skill, athleticism, creativity, ingenuity, determination, and integrity. And beyond this competitive potential, we have the honored opportunity to relay the message of Christ and the culture of AU to players, teams, clubs, schools and communities away from our campus block.

The sport of ultimate is a prime relic of the Christian attitude. Governed by “The Spirit of the Game”, ultimate frisbee breads players of upstanding character and respectful appreciation for all forms of competition, experienced or fresh, old or young, competitive or casual. It is my hope that AUU Conspiracy can complement the spirit of ultimate with the Spirit of a Christian faith, and in doing so honor God and the ability he gives us to play such a wonderful game!

Hey homies,

Ultimate has been awesome lately, has it not? Just so you know we have a secret fan with the initials of LH. I was talking to them tonight and they confessed to me how much they love the sport. Great news in my eyes. Speaking of love, this is a video of our home tourney we hosted last year entitled AUU Invitational. I believe 3 teams came, one of the poor teams only had 5 players. It was a great first tourney and we’ll definitely be doing it again in the Spring. So be looking forward to that, we’ve got to get a lot of people out tanning and watching ULTIMATE. The New AUU Conspiracy Logo

Well there isn’t much to say about this, except for I think it rocks. This is the design that is going on our custom discs! By the way, those will arrive on Oct. 6th so mark your calendars. We’ll be using this raven and type to set our branding as a club. I dig it, and would love to know what you guys think? Would you love this on a bumper sticker, obviously discs, and new jerseys? Leave some feedback, we’re interested in what you have to say. Thanks for being a great club.

Earlham Tourney ‘09

I decided to post this tonight, just for Joey, and ahead of our new logo. Which you can now see just about everywhere. The site is still coming together, as I don’t have much time in the day to devote to it. Usually right before bed I can hammer out a few things. I hope you already love it though. So what’s new in this video? Well it’s the most current video we have right now. We took a team of returning club members and went to Earlham College to play in a one day tourney on campus. It was a lot of fun, many props to Earlham (especially Julia) for putting this on. We played Earlham’s two teams, Wright City, and Taylor. It may have been a rough start for the year, but it was a ton of fun. Check out the highlights from the day.

Custom Disc Sneak Peak

Many thanks go to Chrissy Addie and Daniel Jeffrey who have always been willing artist to help us out when we need some awesome looking art. As the year started we’ve wanted to get custom discs for the club. Last year we started with stickers and they were a pretty good success, now we are moving up to Discs. This is a big deal not only because it’s going to solidify our logo and type, but having discs will help spread our cause. You can read our mission statement on our ABOUT page. I’ve got a quick snapshot of all the raven ideas we’ve been through, except for the one we chose. You’ll have to wait to see that one. But I just wanted to show off what we’ve got, and get you hyped for the discs. If all goes well, we’ll have them by homecoming in October.

BTW: You’ll be able to pick these up in the book store or from a captain for $12, unless you pre-ordered one. Let us know what you think.

Or even better yet the 3v3 indoor sessions I had with a lot of my friends. I hope the club keeps growing the way it is, because it’s AWESOME!

Hey everyone, If you’ll notice the whole site is down and in the process of being rebuilt. I thought about doing this over the summer, and I should have, but now is the time. I’ve cleared out the whole website, and am building it better. Mainly for one, to make the site more efficient and media friendly, and two to get it ready for the future of who ever will be taking over the communications part of the club. While it’s being rebuilt enjoy the picture of Joey snorting a noodle at Skyline Chili. It’s a tradition to get Skyline after our Arctic Vogue Tourney, be ready for that experience.

This was a little video taken from one of our indoor pickup games in the winter of 2009. It’s often too cold here in Indiana to play outdoors in the winter. I did walk to class in -13 once though. This was the first thing that was filmed with a decent quality camera for the club. We shoot on two HG-10’s which are made by Canon if you were wondering. Also we’ll be incorporating a Flip HD for other things as well. All dumped into Final Cut Pro and we also use Motion and Color for post production stuff. Just some tidbits for you nerdy nerds out there. This also marked the first full year for the club if I’m not mistaken. Things were starting to gain momentum, so watch and enjoy

We were such noobs! Although we still are, I’d argue we’ve gotten a lot better at being noobs since then. It’s only been a little less than 2 years since we were this bad.
